From the CBS 8 West Alabama Newsroom-- A
mold problem is raising health concerns for workers at a Dallas County
office building.
Four people have come
down with symptoms of exposure to mold.
The building belongs
to the Dallas County Commission and houses the Alabama Extension System
and the central office for Dallas County Public Schools.
A non-life
threatening type of mold was recently found in an air conditioning.
“I’m coughing,
sneezing, clearing my throat, and my eyes are itching and watering now,”
said Deborah Voltz of the Alabama Extension System.
“We decided to go
ahead and do a declaration of emergency simply because if there is a
problem, we wanted to go ahead and address the problem and get that
corrected as fast as possible,” said Dallas County Commissioner Roy
Moore.
Moore said the
declaration will shorten up the process of hiring a company to get rid
of the mold. |
